The Red Texas is a hybrid of the green Texas cichlid (Herichthys carpintis) with flowerhorn or blood parrot, selected in Southeast Asia for its blue-green speckles on a red body. It does not exist in the wild. Aggressive and territorial like its parents, it does best alone in a large tank. Colour develops with age and varies widely between fish; fertility is irregular.
