Three spot cichlid
Amphilophus trimaculatus
No photo yet
The three spot cichlid lives on the Pacific slope, from Mexico to Central America, in slow lowland river stretches with mud or sand bottoms, among roots and weeds. It eats small fish, invertebrates and insects. The male is larger, with longer, more pointed fins. The pair spawns on a flat surface such as a stone — a female may lay around a thousand eggs — and guards the eggs and fry.
