A loach from the Mekong (Laos, Cambodia and Thailand) and the Dong Nai in Vietnam, from fast stretches with boulders in medium and large rivers. It eats mainly molluscs. It is very aggressive and territorial. It spawns at the start of the wet season, when it migrates into tributaries; it has never been bred in aquaria.
