Three spot gourami
Trichopodus trichopterus
The three spot gourami lives in Southeast Asia, from southern China to Indonesia, in vegetated marshes, swamps and canals, and migrates into flooded forests in the wet season. It eats zooplankton, crustaceans and insect larvae. The male builds a bubble nest and guards the eggs; males are territorial towards each other. It comes in many bred colour varieties — blue, gold, opaline. It is also a food fish and has been introduced to several countries.
