The moonlight gourami from the Mekong and Chao Phraya lives in shallow, densely vegetated ponds and swamps. It eats zooplankton, crustaceans and aquatic insects, and breathes air. The male has orange pelvic fins. It builds a bubble nest, and the female may lay up to 2,000 eggs. It is a food fish in the region.
