Pearl gourami
Trichopodus leerii
The pearl gourami lives in Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo, in lowland swamps with acidic water and dense vegetation. It breathes air. The male is larger, has longer fins and, when breeding, a bright orange throat. The male builds a bubble nest. Trade fish are farm-bred.
