Dwarf gourami
Trichogaster lalius
The dwarf gourami comes from Pakistan, India and Bangladesh, from slow, densely vegetated waters. The male has diagonal red and blue stripes; the female is silvery. The male builds a bubble nest reinforced with bits of plants. There are several bred colour varieties. Commercially farmed fish often have health problems, such as an iridovirus.
