A nocturnal catfish from the Congo basin. Juveniles are dark with bright white spots; the colour changes with age. It becomes territorial as it grows. In the wild it spawns in flooded areas, scattering its eggs; trade fish are often hormone-bred. It reaches 25 centimetres.
