Tiger botia

The tiger botia lives in the Mekong (Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand), Chao Phraya and Mae Klong basins, and moves into flooded areas in the rainy season. Active at dusk and night, it eats snails, insect larvae and worms. It is the largest of the tiger botia group, at 25 to 30 centimetres, and is belligerent. It has never been bred in aquaria. It is confused with Syncrossus hymenophysa.
