Chameleon loach
Syncrossus beauforti
No photo yet
A loach from Thailand and the Salween basin, from small and medium rivers with clear, fast water and bottoms of rocks, branches and leaves. It digs burrows in sand or under rocks and moves into flooded forest in the wet season. It eats bottom invertebrates. It makes clicking sounds when excited. It reaches 25 centimetres. It has never been bred in captivity, and collection for the trade is its main threat.
