Ribbon moray

The ribbon eel lives in the Indo-Pacific, from East Africa to southern Japan, Australia and French Polynesia, buried in sand or rubble with only its head showing. Its nostrils end in leaf-like flaps. It changes colour and sex during its life: juveniles are black. It is the only member of its genus.
