The scissortail rasbora from Southeast Asia (Chao Phraya and Mekong basins, Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and Borneo) lives at the surface of streams, canals, lakes and swamps. It eats mainly insects. It reaches 15 centimetres. Popular in the hobby; its name comes from the tail's scissor-like twitching.
