Bumblebee Cichlid
Pseudotropheus crabro
No photo yet
The bumblebee cichlid is a mbuna endemic to Lake Malawi, most common in caves and near large boulders. Barred yellow and black, it changes colour rapidly; dominant males turn almost black. It is a specialised cleaner: it removes parasites from the large kampango catfish (Bagrus meridionalis), which recognises it by its bars. The female mouthbroods the eggs. It reaches about 15 centimetres.
