The elegant paradise fish is a threadfin from Southeast Asian rivers — the Chao Phraya (Thailand), Sumatra and Borneo — over sandy or muddy bottoms. It has about 14 filaments on each side attached to the pectoral fins, the longest longer than the body itself. It eats crustaceans and small fish. It is highly prized as food in Thailand and exported to Japan as an ornamental fish. It reaches 28 centimetres.
