Black morpho tetra
Poecilocharax weitzmani
No photo yet
The black morpho tetra lives in blackwater forest streams of the upper Rio Negro, Orinoco and Solimões (Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Venezuela). Unlike most small tetras, it does not school, and males, with larger, more colourful fins, contest territories. It needs soft, acidic water. It is rarely bred in aquaria.
