The jaguar cichlid is a predatory cichlid from Central America, from the Ulúa River in Honduras to the Matina River in Costa Rica. It lives in turbid, warm, oxygen-poor lakes with muddy bottoms and eats small fish and invertebrates. Males reach about 65 centimetres. It has been introduced to several countries.
