White-eye
Oxyzygonectes dovii
No photo yet
The white-eye is the only member of its genus, from the Pacific slope of Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama, from lowland rivers and estuaries, often in brackish water. It has a shining white iris. Unlike its four-eyed relatives, the male has no gonopodium and fertilisation is external. It eats detritus, algae and insects.
