Ripsaw catfish

The ripsaw catfish is the largest thorny catfish, about a metre long, with spiny plates along its body. From the Amazon, Essequibo and São Francisco basins, it lives in rivers and lakes with muddy bottoms, in schools, and eats detritus, insect larvae and crustaceans. It has never been bred in aquaria.
