Nannostomus trifasciatus
No photo yet
The three-striped pencilfish from the Amazon and the Guianas lives in slow, acidic waters, swamps and, in the wet season, flooded forest. By day it has three dark stripes along its body; at night the pattern changes. It eats mainly insects. It scatters its eggs with no parental care. It is one of the most popular and least demanding pencilfish.
