Blackbanded rainbowfish

The black-banded rainbowfish comes from northern Australia — the Kimberley, Northern Territory and Cape York Peninsula — from streams and lagoons. It was the first rainbowfish described, in 1843, and is the type species of its genus. It has a black stripe from the snout to the tail. It is usually about 6 centimetres; males reach 10.
