Black sharkminnow
Labeo chrysophekadion
No photo yet
The black sharkminnow lives in the Mekong and Chao Phraya basins, the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Java and Borneo, in rivers, canals and floodplains. It grazes algae and eats detritus. It is migratory: it spawns upstream with the first rains, and the fry follow the rising water onto the banks. It grows very large and is territorial and aggressive, so it is unsuitable for home aquaria. It is a food fish.
