A Southeast Asian catfish from large, turbid rivers, where it schools near the banks in flowing water. Active by day, it hunts aquatic insects and small fish. It reaches 15 centimetres. Despite the trade name 'glass catfish', the adult body is not transparent: the transparent fish sold under that name are Kryptopterus vitreolus. Locally it is used to make fermented fish paste.
