A large barb from Southeast Asia (Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Malaysia). It migrates with the seasons: it spends the dry season in large rivers and moves into smaller rivers in the wet season. It does not persist in reservoirs. It is fished for food and also appears in the aquarium trade.
