Black neon tetra
Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi
The black neon tetra is native to the upper Paraguay River in Brazil and has a light stripe above a black stripe along its body. It eats small invertebrates and plants. It is farmed commercially, and wild fish are no longer collected. The female is larger and rounder. It scatters its eggs with no parental care.
