A cross between the common betta and Betta mahachaiensis, a brackish-water species from coastal Thailand, used to bring in the wild fish's iridescent green pattern. The young are fertile and build bubble nests. B. mahachaiensis is threatened in the wild; keeping pure lines requires origin control.
