Alien betta
Betta smaragdina × Betta mahachaiensis
No photo yet
The alien betta is a Thai hybrid line with a dark body covered in iridescent blue-green scales, from crossing the emerald betta (Betta smaragdina) with Betta mahachaiensis — many breeders add imbellis or splendens blood, so the ancestry varies from line to line. It does not exist in the wild. It is fertile, builds bubble nests and is usually less aggressive than splendens. For breeders, recording which species went into each generation is what gives a line its value.
