Gobio gobio
No photo yet
The gudgeon is a bottom fish from Europe and temperate Asia, from rivers and lakes with sand or gravel bottoms. It lives in shoals, searching the bottom for insect larvae, molluscs and crustaceans with its two barbels. It makes squeaking sounds that seem to serve as communication. It spawns in shallow water, and the eggs stick to stones and plants. It is usually 9 to 13 centimetres.
