Pearl cichlid

The pearl cichlid comes from eastern and southern Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and northeastern Argentina, from rivers, lakes and lagoons, sometimes slightly brackish. It has pearly blue spots and a dark blotch mid-body; its colours change with mood. The male is much larger than the female. It spawns on the substrate. It reaches about 28 centimetres. It has been introduced to several countries.
