Eastern mosquitofish

The eastern mosquitofish comes from the eastern and southern United States, from still or slow, heavily vegetated waters, also entering brackish water. A livebearer; the female, up to about 6 to 8 centimetres, is much larger than the male. It was released around the world, including Europe, to control mosquito larvae, and became a pest that threatens native species.
