Malawi eyebiter
Dimidiochromis compressiceps
No photo yet
A predatory Lake Malawi cichlid with a strongly compressed body that hides among plants in shallow water to ambush small fish — and swallows them tail first, which is rare among fishes. Despite the name 'eyebiter', it does not live on the eyes of other fish. Adult males turn metallic blue; females are silvery. The female mouthbroods the eggs.
