Fiveband barb
Desmopuntius pentazona
No photo yet
A barb from northwestern Borneo, from peat swamps and blackwater streams. It is rare in the trade: almost everything sold under this name is the similar Desmopuntius hexazona, which lacks the small dark spot at the rear base of the dorsal fin. It scatters its eggs with no parental care.
