The Denison barb is endemic to the Western Ghats in India, from fast hill streams and rocky pools with dense bank vegetation. A schooling fish. It has a torpedo-shaped body with a red line from the snout to mid-body and a black line to the tail. It eats mainly plants. It is endangered. It reaches 15 centimetres.
