Zebra danio
Danio rerio
The zebrafish from southern Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan) lives in slow or still streams, canals, ditches, ponds and rice paddies. It is popular in the aquarium hobby and one of the most widely used animals in scientific research, especially developmental biology.
