Rust corydoras
Corydoras rabauti
No photo yet
The rust corydoras from the upper Amazon (Brazil and Peru) is orange with a black band on the back that runs down to the underside of the tail base — which separates it from the similar Corydoras zygatus. It lives in floodplain lakes and rivers. Its pectoral spines release a mild venom: the sting hurts. The female is larger. It is now in the genus Osteogaster.
