Bronze corydoras
Corydoras aeneus
The bronze corydoras lives across much of South America — probably a complex of similar species. It prefers shallow, calm waters with soft bottoms and moves in schools of 20 to 30. Besides its gills, it breathes air gulped at the surface and absorbed through the gut. It eats worms, crustaceans, insects and plants, and spawns when the rains arrive. The female is larger and rounder.
