The golden pheasant panchax is an annual killifish from Sierra Leone and western Liberia, from pools, swamps and swampy stream sections in forest and savannah. The adults die in the dry season and the eggs survive in the mud until the rains. It eats small invertebrates. Difficult to keep. It reaches about 8 to 9 centimetres.
