Apistogramma cacatuoides
No photo yet
The cockatoo dwarf cichlid from the upper Amazon (Peru, Colombia and Brazil) lives in shallow forest streams and pools with leaf-covered bottoms. The male is larger, more colourful and has elongated front dorsal rays, like a cockatoo's crest. The female alone tends the eggs, laid on the roof of a cave, while the male guards the territory.
