A goby from the central Indo-Pacific, from the Philippines and the Ryukyu Islands to Australia, from sand and rubble areas in lagoons, at 2 to 20 metres. It sifts mouthfuls of sand to eat algae and small invertebrates. It reaches 15 centimetres.
